I look back at 1998 - the beginning of my meditation journey - and honestly? It felt like a chore. My African dad introduced Falun Gong / Falun Dafa to our family, and what should have been healing for us as a unit somehow landed as a bore, a snore, and a chore. But I’m grateful for that start. It taught me something important early on: meditation isn’t a religion. The intentions are good. It’s good for the body. And most importantly, it planted openness. Years later, during my divorce and the stress that came with it, that openness saved me. Even the most basic practices: Headspace, a 20-minute timer, sitting in silence, had a profound effect. For the first time in my life, there was space between my thoughts. And that alone was worth everything. As time went on, I found teachers like Abraham Hicks and Dr Joe Dispenza. Meditation stopped being passive and became intentional. I started using it to unlearn patterns, reprogram beliefs, and regulate my nervous system. That’s when I entered creation mode. And I’m still there. Now all I want to do is share the benefits of meditation - even if it makes me look weird. I’ve been weird since 1998, so honestly… I don’t care anymore. ✨
