This is absolutely unbelievable and you need to hear what happened at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja today! What started as a political drama when former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai showed up to honor his corruption investigation invitation turned into a health crisis that nobody could have predicted. When El-Rufai arrived with thousands of supporters, EFCC security operatives deployed teargas to disperse the massive crowd. But here's where things went terribly wrong - the teargas fumes didn't just stay at the EFCC premises. The toxic smoke drifted across the fence into the neighboring Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, creating absolute chaos inside a hospital full of sick patients, pregnant women, and vulnerable people seeking medical care! Hospital staff described complete pandemonium as patients who were already dealing with health conditions suddenly found themselves coughing uncontrollably, their eyes burning and streaming with tears. One pregnant woman who was there for a routine antenatal checkup said she suddenly couldn't breathe properly even though she was inside the hospital building. Her eyes filled with tears immediately and she started coughing nonstop. The panic was so intense that people were running into each other, desperately trying to find clean air or escape the suffocating fumes. Medical procedures had to be postponed, nurses and doctors couldn't do their jobs because they were also struggling to breathe, and the entire hospital was thrown into chaos. This is raising serious questions about why crowd control operations would be conducted so close to a hospital without considering the consequences for vulnerable patients. The Federal Medical Centre shares very close proximity with the EFCC headquarters, and now people are asking whether anyone conducted a risk assessment before deploying teargas. What would have happened if the fumes had reached intensive care units or operating rooms? The fact that pregnant women and their unborn babies were exposed to these toxic chemicals is particularly concerning. El-Rufai was at the EFCC to answer questions about allegations that he misappropriated over 423 billion naira during his time as Kaduna governor, but the victims of this teargas incident were innocent patients and medical staff who had nothing to do with the political drama. They were simply at the hospital seeking medical care and ended up suffocating from teargas fired during a political confrontation.
