Calling the new rules "vague," the Supreme Court today issued a notice to the Centre and the University Grants Commission, giving them time until 19 March to respond. Until then, the UGC's 2026 Regulations have been put in abeyance. The Supreme Court ordered that the 2012 UGC Regulations will remain applicable while experts examine the new rules and will have suggest modifications.
