In this video we continue our RV Road trip across America with a stop at Capitol Reef National Park in central Utah. We drive west through the desert from Moab to a park named for the unique rock formations that reminded early explorers of the Capitol Building in Washington DC. This small park is perfect for those adventurous types who love to hike and explore new and exciting trails with exquisitely unique sandstone cliff faces and canyons. We even blaze a new trail when we go off-road on a partially washed-out Jeep road and up some beautiful mountain switchbacks. We also get a sneak peak at Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument. After our desert drive from Moab we arrive at the Wonderland RV Park in Torrey, Utah. We soon discover that a large portion of the National Park has been closed for construction, so excited to begin our exploration, we choose a different path. We locate Notom Road, a primitive unpaved trail that leads us around the south end of Capitol Reef and up into the mountains via the Burr Trail Switchbacks. We eventually arrive in Boulder, Utah and have a fantastic dinner at Hell's Backbone Grill, a gourmet restaurant with a James Beard Award winning chef. What a find. The next day we enter Capitol Reef and are immediately greeted by some of the park's native inhabitants, a large herd of Mule Deer. After exchanging pleasantries with these beautiful creatures we embark on a scenic drive through the park. We soon arrive at the Grand Wash Trail and we make the exhilarating hike into the canyon among some unbelievable natural wonders. We are amazed by the beauty of this place, but we are left wondering why this park is not as popular as many of the other national parks in Utah. It certainly holds its own against Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon and Arches. Oh well, smaller crowds equal better access for us we suppose. Capitol Reef is the latest stop in our exploration of America in our RV that will take us from coast to coast. Come along with us as we meet challenges, and explore new places on an epic cross-country journey. Will we be able to complete this trip without the problems that plagued our last two? Follow along and find out. If you are more partial to our RV Reviews, don't worry, we've got more of those coming as well.
