Many people would prefer to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home rather than in a hospital. Doctors make house calls on difficult-to-treat patients who live alone, and sometimes they have to care for them on their own. One such team is active in Osaka. With an aging population and a declining birthrate, more and more elderly people are living alone, so it's essential to have someone to watch over their lives and deaths. "In a way, it's gratifying when someone says, 'I want you to write the death certificate,'" says Dr. Nakamura Toshinori, the team leader. We follow the soul-to-soul interaction between people that goes beyond the roles of "doctor" and "patient." (Broadcast on May 22, 2010)
