The game is still the same otherwise and the video is still recorded in 4:3. Much like my previous playthrough for The First Encounter, I played the game with a 1280x960 resolution using the Direct 3D renderer. DirectX 8 is old but at least I can play it okay enough with AMD hardware, can't say the same for OpenGL 1.X. Lens flares have to be disabled since they causes framerate drops for Windows 10 systems. This is a continuous playthrough on Serious difficulty that is segmented between each level. In this playthrough, I try to go for all possible kills (not counting extra kills from Mordekai the Summoner), get all the secrets, and play through each level from start to finish without dying. This means quicksaves are not allowed here either. The Serious Bomb is not allowed either, except for the secret pumpkin area in The Grand Cathedral. Q: Why did the Tommygun and Lasergun shoot slower than it should? How did it shoot like normal in The Elephant Atrium? A: There is a bug in classic Serious Sam where after 4096 seconds of game time, anything that shoots at 600RPM slows down badly. This includes the Tommygun, Lasergun, Flamethrower, and lasers from Minor Biomechs. After another 4096 seconds of game time, the bug "fixes" itself. The bug and the "fix" can happen in the middle of a level. Q: Why is there a kill and secret before the first level? A: The prologue has one kill you can get just by watching the whole thing, I assume it's the Croteam bigheads who count as a kill here. As for the secret, from what I know it's the Colt secret from the first level of The First Encounter that was left over. Since you can't control Sam in the prologue, this secret is impossible to get. Q: Why do you only have 7/8 secrets in the second level? A: The secret for shooting at a rock and getting an invulnerability powerup is bugged and is not counted properly. This is fixed in HD and Revolution. Q: Why were you rushing through the lava room in The City of the Gods, the Kleer horde in Serpent Yards, and the Cucurbito fight in Tower of Babel? A: These parts of the game have Biomech spawns (almost all Majors) that are called "security" in the Serious Editor. Basically they are anti-speedrun monsters but they still count towards the kill count. In the lava room, you want to rush just enough to get two Major Biomechs to spawn in, but watch out for the other monsters. For the Serpent Yards, you can rocket jump to skip a trigger and rush to the end of the laser trap to spawn all the Major Biomechs, though I didn't do that in this playthrough. For Tower of Babel, just pick up the invulnerability powerup and rush through the pumpkin horde to spawn the Biomechs. Q: Why did you used the Serious Bomb in the pumpkin secret area in the last level? A: There's a static cannon that clipped through the ground however it was not destroyed. The only way to destroy this cannon is to use the Serious Bomb as its radius is able to destroy the cannon. This means the maximum number of kills you can get in this level is 1085/1095, assuming no additional monsters were summoned by Mordekai. Q: How did you got an extra kill from Mordekai the Summoner after killing him? A: After rewatching the footage, it seems he only summoned a single Fiendian Reptiloid Demon. Because I killed Mordekai after he summoned the Fiendian AND before he escapes, I got the extra kill. Basically, the total kill count decrements by one, but the kill count still increments by one.
