In this exclusive interview at EXCON 2025, we speak with Amarnath Ramachandran, Managing Director, ARX Mining and Construction Equipment, about the company’s latest indigenous innovations in motor graders, underground mining vehicles, and its long-term vision across construction, mining, cargo handling, and defence sectors. Ramachandran introduces ARX’s newly launched 18-tonne premium motor grader, part of a comprehensive lineup ranging from 12 tonnes to heavy-duty 32-tonne graders, with plans extending up to 75-tonne graders for large mining applications. Designed with globally sourced aggregates such as ZF drivetrains, German-made axles, and Italian cabins, these graders combine high fuel efficiency, superior ergonomics, and world-class safety features including 360-degree visibility, radar-based obstacle detection, cameras, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) to significantly reduce accident risks on highways and mining sites. A major highlight of the interview is ARX’s UGV 15 underground mining vehicle, a first-of-its-kind, Made-in-India modular platform developed to meet the growing demand for underground mining in India. Designed to operate in low-height shafts of 3–5 metres, the articulated vehicle supports multiple interchangeable attachments such as personnel carriers, scissor lifts, scalers with rock breakers, material decks, and lubricant dispensing modules—maximising utilisation while reducing the need for multiple specialised machines. Ramachandran explains how this multi-utility platform improves miner safety and comfort with air-conditioned cabins, mechanical suspension seats, three-point seat belts, and compact turning radii for confined spaces. Beyond mining, the vehicle also shows strong potential for disaster management, off-road rescue, and emergency response applications. The conversation also covers ARX’s focus on fuel efficiency and productivity, with smaller graders consuming as little as 10 litres per hour, significantly lower than industry averages. Advanced telematics, IoT-enabled diagnostics, predictive maintenance systems, and open CAN-based architecture enhance machine uptime without locking customers into proprietary software ecosystems. Ramachandran further discusses ARX’s financing partnerships with Tata Capital, Axis Bank, and NBFCs, offering flexible ownership models including long-term rentals, easing capital constraints for customers. He also highlights ARX’s collaboration with Hiab (Sweden) for truck loader cranes, widely used across mining, infrastructure, logistics, and defence applications—including support for Indian defence and DRDO projects. Looking ahead, ARX is actively preparing for the future with electric and hydrogen-powered variants, working with Italian partners on motors, inverters, and lithium ferro-phosphate batteries. Demonstrator electric machines—including large graders—are expected soon, ensuring customers can opt for low-carbon solutions and future-ready equipment as the market evolves. With a diversified portfolio, modular engineering philosophy, and strong focus on safety, efficiency, and indigenous manufacturing, ARX Mining and Construction Equipment is positioning itself as a serious global contender in the heavy equipment industry. 👍 Like, Subscribe, and Hit the Bell Icon for more exclusive interviews and insights from EXCON 2025! #ARXEquipment #EXCON2025 #AmarnathRamachandran #MotorGraders #UndergroundMining #MiningEquipment #ConstructionEquipment #MadeInIndia #ModularVehicles #HeavyMachinery #RoadConstruction #MiningInnovation #ElectricEquipment #HydrogenEngines #Telematics #PredictiveMaintenance #IndianManufacturing
