How I Make Cardboard Ship Models, DIY Ship Designs and Ideas. #diycrafts #cardboardship #diy Hi everyone! Today I will tell you how I create my cardboard ship models. In my work I use a special material, cardboard from milk or natural juice packs. This cardboard is glued very well with a regular glue gun and it is more waterproof. I do not use any templates, only real drawings of ships. I glue electrical tape on top of the cardboard, for example, red electrical tape is used for the waterline. This makes it faster to paint the model, plus the ship's hull gets even more waterproof. Small parts are also cut from electrical tape. I can make the deck yellow using yellow tape, I just glue it on top and cut the deck along the contour. The masts are made of plastic, and the cable is made of regular thread. Inside the model there is an F130 motor and a simple radio control system. The engine is connected to the propeller with a wire shaft, the shaft goes outside the hull through a tube made from a cotton swab, it is important that the diameters match and the shaft rotates freely in the tube. To prevent water from leaking inside the ship, the tube and shaft are lubricated with grease. I make the propeller itself from pieces of soda cans. I shoot all the videos with the models at sea, and the shooting is done on a regular smartphone, in slow-mo mode. For underwater shooting, I use this case, it is homemade, I made it from a food container, cut a hole and glued the glass to silicone. The case is not very reliable, so I seal all the holes on the smartphone with electrical tape, if water leaks inside, this can save the smartphone. Sometimes, if the ship is small, I do not install an engine, but simply install a weather vane propeller, with the slightest movement of the ship in the water, the propeller spins, for a cinematic effect this is enough. Milk carton cardboard still gets wet, so to prevent the ship from breaking in half, there is a plastic keel inside, ballast of small stones is placed on the bottom, sand can be used, but with stones the ship dries more effectively. To sink the ship, I make a hole in the side, put the model on the water and film the sinking on a smartphone in an underwater shooting case. In general, milk carton cardboard is a very cool material for such models, it bends easily, you can cut it with ordinary scissors. To create one ship, I need 5 or 6 cardboard boxes, and to get them sometimes I have to drink a lot of milk. If you like this video, then maybe I will make another video, for example about submarines. This was John Craft, and see you soon.
