How To Customize iOS 16 Lock Screen In this video I’m going to show you how to customize your iPhone’s lock screen using the new customization feature inside of iOS 16. With the release of iOS 16, Apple has finally given us the ability to change up how our lock screen looks and behaves. First, we can add new backgrounds, like dynamic photos or colors or designs. We can also now add often used widgets to the screen, through a widget bar. And you can set multiple different lock screen layouts if you want, swiping through each of them if you want to quickly switch it up, or set focuses attached to a certain lock screen to automatically turn on when using it. Let’s take a look and walk through setting all of this up. First, head to your lock screen. You can either start by just waking your iPhone up, or if it’s already unlocked, just swipe down from the top center of your screen. Once here and unlocked, press and hold anywhere on the screen. The customization window will then appear. If your current screen is already customized, you can edit it by tapping customize. But I want to leave this how it is and start a new one. To create a new lock screen, either tap the plus sign on the bottom right, or swipe to the left and tap the plus sign here. Next, you have the different options to add a new wallpaper. This is where you can choose photos, designs, weather, colors, or an astrology page. If you choose a photo, you can change the size by pinching, and if you notice here, iOS 16 will cut the subject out from the background and place it over the clock if it doesn’t cover too much. You can then swipe to change the color and lighting of the image. If you select the color backdrop, you can change the color background by tapping the three dots on the bottom right and choose background color. From here you can change the background color to whatever you want. Next, you see the elements of the page have boxes around them. These are now customizable. Tap the top box, and you can then add a quick widget to go next to the date. For instance, I can add notification for any calendar events today, or my ring progress. Next, tap the clock section. You can now change the font of the time display. Once you select the font you want to use, you can also change the color of all the text down below. And finally, you have section below the clock to add widgets that you commonly use. Choose that and then select from the widget list the ones you want to add. Let’s say for instance you want to see your ring progress here, you’re Apple Watch battery level, and a stock widget. You can add as many widgets that will fit into this section, whether it’s 4 smaller ones, or 2 small and 1 larger like I have here. When you’re finished customizing your lock screen, tap the add button on the top right of the screen. You can then set it as a wallpaper pair. If you want the home screen once your iPhone is unlocked to look a little different, you can also tap customize home screen. If you do that, you can change this appearance here if you want to, like changing it to a color or gradient, or unblurring the background image. Once you’re finished, tap done on the top right. Now that we have our newly customized screen, just select it, and it will be used from now on. If you want to edit this screen, or create a new one, just again head back to the lock screen, press and hold, and then you can edit or create a new one from here. Another option you have, is to create lock screens for certain focuses if you want. Say for instance, when you’re at work, or want to enable do not disturb mode. Once on the lock screen selection page, just tap focus on the bottom of the screen. You can then link a focus mode to that lock screen. So now if I select this lock screen, it will automatically enter the focus that I’ve linked to it. And if you ever want to delete a customized lock screen in the future, just head back into the lock screen selection screen, head to the one you want to remove, and then swipe up. When the trash can icon appears, just tap that, and then remove this wallpaper. It will then remove the screen and set you back to the original default. And remember that in order to do any of the lock screen customizations, you must update your iOS to the latest version, which as of now is iOS 16. And that’s how you customize your Apple iPhone’s lock screen inside of iOS 16. Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe and stay tuned for more quick tech how-to videos.
