As British forces loomed to the north during the War of 1812, and Native American alliances remained uncertain, General William Henry Harrison took a bold risk: he called for a council of peace. Fifty Native American chiefs from the Wyandot, Delaware, Shawnee, and Seneca tribes, including the legendary Tarhe the Crane, arrived at dawn to meet Harrison in a quiet grove. What they chose that day changed the course of Ohio’s future.
