In the shadow of war and uncertainty, a remarkable moment unfolded in Franklinton, then the heart of central Ohio. As British forces loomed to the north during the War of 1812, and Native American alliances remained uncertain, General William Henry Harrison took a bold risk: he called for a council of peace. What followed was extraordinary. Fifty Native American chiefs from the Wyandot, Delaware, Shawnee, and Seneca tribes, including the legendary Tarhe the Crane, arrived at dawn to meet Harrison in a quiet grove. What they chose that day changed the course of Ohio’s future. This is the little-known story of courage, diplomacy, and a historic moment nearly lost to time, until it was memorialized with an eight-ton boulder in 1904. 📍 Discover the history behind the peace council monument at Martin Avenue and State Street in Columbus, Ohio. 🔔 Subscribe for more Hidden Histories from central Ohio. #OhioHistory #WarOf1812 #NativeAmericanHistory #FranklintonOhio #WilliamHenryHarrison #TarheTheCrane #History #gooddaycolumbus STORY: https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local...
