A composite of 7 days of driving, 1326 miles or 2144 km, from Seattle, Washington south to San Diego and the Mexican border, compressed waaay down into an 11-minute #drivelapse or #timelapse and set to music. This was assembled from 2 trips in late 2018 and early 2019. Some segments are shown at faster time-lapse speeds than others, and all the short intermediate stops at rest stops and gas stations are edited out. My goal here was to show a 1,326-mile journey in a very short time without showing super-highly-sped-up video that would be just too fast to watch. For better or worse, this is what I came up with. Day 1. Starts out in downtown Seattle (Belltown), heads south on Interstate 5 in the rain (and with some interesting bridges) to the first stay at Portland, Oregon. Day 2. Continuing through Oregon in the Willamette Valley and Cascades/Klamath Mountains on I-5 to the next stay at Medford, Oregon. Day 3. More driving through the Klamath Mountains on I-5 into California, stopping at Redding, California. Day 4. I-5 and I-505 south through the Sacramento Valley, and then I-80 west, across the Bay Bridge to the next stay in San Francisco. Day 5. Starts out on US-101 briefly, then I-80 east back across the Bay Bridge, I-580 east through Altamont pass with its wind turbines and back on I-5 south to Harris Ranch in the San Joaquin Valley for the next stay. Day 6. I-5 south through the San Joaquin Valley, over the Tehachapi Mountains to the next stay at Santa Clarita, California. Day 7. I-5 south, fighting boring traffic through the Los Angeles area, and then fighting more traffic to San Diego. Finally, the trip ends less than 100 feet (30m) from the Mexican border in a shopping mall parking lot.
