Tests at the Kiwa BDA Testing B.V. Fire Safety and Security Laboratory to demonstrate the effectiveness of the ArcBox DC connector safety enclosure in preventing an arc fault from an installation error or damage to a DC connector spreading to surrounding combustible materials and developing into a roof fire. Tests were run with and without ArcBox on a full roof build up and with two widely used roof integrated solar products: 1. Plastic cladding tray system underneath standard solar PV panels 2. Fully integrated panels with all metal roofing kit (Clearline fusion) The experimental design was in collaboration with Kiwa BDA Testing B.V.and Loughborough University, in consultation with the Dutch Fire Service (Veiligheidsregio Utrecht) A modified DC connector is manipulated to simulate an arc fault condition in the DC connector and maintained continuously for 5minutes 30sec, an extreme test of the product because the destruction of the connector and increasing air gap between conductors is likely to extinguish the arc long before this time. https://www.arcbox.solar/
