In other words, Stage II would have 2+ LN’s above OR below the diaphragm, but can only be on one of those sides. Stage III would have 2+ LN’s both above AND below the diaphragm. Of note, the Ann Arbor staging has fallen out of favor for NHL and was recently replaced with the Lugano classification. Ninja Nerds! Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (also known as NHL, or sometimes just lymphoma) is a cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system. NHL is a term that's used for many different types of lymphoma that all share some of the same characteristics.
