November 8, 1942: Der Führer spricht - Adolf Hitler's Famous Speech to the Old Fighters of the NSDAP on the Current War Situation in Stalingrad. The message of his speech was a refusal to compromise, a readiness to fight, and a determination to destroy the enemy, with no alternative to complete success in a war for sheer existence, and the certainty of ultimate victory. He contrasted his stance with that of the Kaiser in World War I, stating that while the Kaiser laid down arms at "quarter to twelve," he himself would "stop only five minutes after twelve." He announced the imminent victory in Stalingrad with the words: "I wanted to take [the place Stalingrad], and – you know – we are modest, we actually have it. There are only a few very small patches left." If the conclusion of the fighting took a little longer, it was only because he did not want to create a second Verdun. He briefly mentioned the Allied landing in North Africa on the same day with just one sentence. Hitler reiterated his "prophecy" of January 30, 1939, that if Judaism once again provoked a world war, the result would be its extermination in Europe. He thus portrayed the ongoing mass murder of the Jews as an act of self-defense. Hitler loudly proclaimed: "Where the German soldier once stands, no power in the world will be able to dislodge him." His slogan of fighting until 'five minutes past twelve' was repeated a year later in the same hall with the words: "The one who lays down arms last of all, that will be Germany, and indeed five minutes after twelve." This phrase developed in the post-war decades into a synonym for a criminal and irresponsible policy that no longer showed any consideration even for its own people. I clearly and strongly distance myself from any connection to nazism, fascism, anti-semitism, and other extremist ideologies. Preserving and studying history is crucial so that we can learn from the past and not repeat it. #trend #history #famousspeech #hitlerfacts #ww2
