#sh101 #rolandsynth #bitwigconnect412 In this video, I’m diving into the world of Roland’s legendary synths - comparing five generations of SH machines side by side: the SH-101, MC-202, SH-01A, S-1, and the Roland Cloud SH-101. This is just a quick sound test how Roland’s classic analog DNA evolved across hardware, boutique, and software formats. For this comparison, I had the pleasure of borrowing the new Bitwig Connect 4/12 interface, which makes it possible to send CV, gate, and audio signals seamlessly between all these machines. Here’s the setup: SH-101 receives CV and gate from outputs 9 and 10, with its audio routed into input 1. MC-202 gets CV and gate via outputs 11 and 12, and its audio goes into input 2. SH-01A runs via MIDI through the hardware MIDI output, with audio on input 3. S-1 is connected directly via USB MIDI, with audio on input 4. And finally, the Cloud SH-101 runs as a plug-in directly inside Bitwig. In the first test run, I compared the pulse waveforms - starting with a single note and then moving into a short two-bar pattern. In the second pass, I repeated the same test using the saw wave, to highlight the tonal differences and how each version responds in its own unique way. The running order in both test runs is: 1. SH-101 2. MC-202 3. SH-01a 4. S-1 5. Cloud 101 00:00 Intro 00:19 Bitwig Connect 04/12 Connection 00:57 Pulse single note 01:10 Pulse pattern 01:32 Saw single note 01:45 Saw pattern
