A degree was an incredibly useful thing to have during our parents' time... but that was 40 years ago. Today, it takes more than just a degree to make it in this rough economy. If you go and search for tech jobs on LinkedIn or other job sites, you will notice that a good number of those positions do not have a degree requirement at all. Graduate and entry-level positions appear to be the only positions are strict on the degree requirement, the rest have a strong preference for good work experience and skills in specific technologies that don't come with a degree. In this video, I share my experiences of how useful my degree from UCT was and I talk about how UCT actually helped me with my career.
