Every magnet has two poles: the North pole and the South pole. • Magnetic Poles: Every magnet has a North pole and a South pole. • Attraction and Repulsion: Like poles repel each other, while unlike poles attract each other. • Magnetic Field: The region around a magnet where its force can be felt. • Magnetic Materials: Materials like iron, cobalt, and nickel are strongly attracted to magnets. Uses of Magnetism Magnetism is used in many devices such as electric motors, generators, speakers, magnetic compasses, and data storage devices. A compass uses Earth's magnetic field to help people find directions. Without magnetism, many modern technologies would not function.
