Saona island Dominican Republic Eco review

Created with the #GoPro App on my iPhone. We left on a bus from Punta Cana at 7:10am, we had to stop to pick up other passengers at a few resorts. The bus ride was a bit long and we took a nap. Midway the guide started giving history and fun island information. We went to the port and boarded a speedboat. We were approached by some locals selling items so be prepared. The speedboat was fun, mandatory lifejackets and you will get wet. Stopped at a natural pool for swimming, rum cola beverages and photo opportunities. We passed by the starfish sanctuary and you could see some in the water. We unloaded at the beach on the island. We were offered massages that you can bargain with them and they sell coconut oil for 10$. The Pina Colada is also 10$ and was only ok, but it was neat that they served it in a pineapple. It was so hot on the beach, I spent most of the time in the water! Lunch was provided, good variety of chicken, pork, pasta, cold noodle salad, nachos and a few other things. We stayed on the island until 2:30pm and then the speedboat brought us out to a catamaran for the ride back. We had to transfer out in the water with the boats tied together so a little bumpy from the waves! The ride back was relaxing, some people were dancing and more rum cola was available. When we got back to the port area it took over an hour to get us unloaded, that was frustrating. Then we had the long busride back to Punta Cana. Overall it was a good experience. Seeing the beautiful blue waters was the best part! The bus and boat loading was the worst part. The massage was also a good price compared to the resort prices. I would recommend this tour with Eco Adventures just be prepared for the long day and a lot of sun! I give it 3.5 out of 5. Maybe try a different tour company because the island was great but the transportation needed improvement.
