So you want to enter the cockpit of an Avro Lancaster and fire up those beautiful Merlin engines? You've come to the right place. This is FM159 at the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta. On a regular basis, FM 159 emerges from her hangar to exercise her Rolls Royce/Packard Merlins. This is a bigger bite from my upcoming documentary, currently in post-production, which examines the role of the Avro Lancaster in the Second World War, its service in Bomber Command, and particularly, the men who flew them over Europe and perished in their thousands. It explores as well the restoration of a Lancaster to its post-war livery at the British Columbia Aviation Museum.
