The answers produced different names: Karpov himself, according to him, wrote "Petrosian", as he believed that the former World Champion had the most chances. And Korchnoi's note read: "Korchnoi and Karpov Interzonal will win the Interzonal in Leningrad. The final match of the Candidates shall be Korchnoi - Karpov. Its winner: Korchnoi." Well, almost...
