While searching for my piece El jardín de Lindaraja, winner of the Andrés Segovia Prize at the 14th Edition of the Andrés Segovia Competition in La Herradura, Almuñécar, Granada (2001), in order to show it to a friend, I unexpectedly came across this recording, of which I had been completely unaware. The discovery was both an immense surprise and a great joy. I feel doubly honored to hear my work performed by such an extraordinary interpreter as Maxim Kolker—a very young guitarist who already possesses remarkable musical maturity, outstanding talent, and the exceptional technique required to tackle the most demanding and virtuosic repertoire for the Spanish classical guitar. Although this recording was made with a non-professional camera, what is unmistakably evident is the performer’s extraordinary technique, vibrant energy, explicit talent, and deep, natural connection with his instrument. I am infinitely happy and grateful to Maxim Kolker, as well as to the more than twenty guitarists who have performed and recorded this work. For a composer, there is no greater honor than seeing a single piece interpreted by different performers from all corners of the world. I am deeply grateful to have discovered this recording and this exceptional interpreter. Enjoy!
