Galerkin formulation

In this video we look at the discrete Galerkin formulation and study the error that emerges when we choose a trial solution from a finite-dimensional space. We also discuss the error in detail, and we make an analogy with Euclidean spaces to understand how the Galerkin projection works. We also look at a couple of mathematical proofs that explain how the trial error is the one that minimizes the error with respect to the exact solution, and that the error can be computed simply by computing the approximated strain energy and comparing it with that of the exact solution.
