We built this custom camper for a guy, Trevor, who had a Cache Camper growing up. His dad had us build him a custom truck camper and that is what Trevor grew up doing his camping in. So he wanted to do the same for his family. Just a neat story. We have many stories like that going back over the 54-years of custom manufacturing these truck campers. This was a great video to share because the contrast from one build to another is so neat to observe over and over. Each person and their needs are different. A full time truck lifer or RVer has a completely separate set of needs than a weekender. They may also need a more robust off grid electrical system and be able to hand four seasons. But just because you are a full timer does not necessarily mean you need true four season. You might chase the sun and out run the cold. Whereas if you are a weekender, your camper will be sitting unattended for several weeks at a time and you will only be using it a few days at a time multiple times each winter season. So you will need to have a completely different core off grid electrical system that can handle the severe north western winter season. Not all four season truck campers are created equal and they do not need to be. It all depends on the mission/goal you have for the camper. Keep in mind that four season and off grid are not the only two things to be paid attention to in a custom build, you may need to focus on weight distribution and the center of gravity for the camper. The goal should be to pull trailers with your truck and camper combo rather than having an extremely overload truck that will not be able to tow. You want to stay within the proper payload and GVWR of your truck rating. Custom building is so much fun and we love it. We could have covered more here but we hope you enjoyed this one.
