The Aussie Fisherman Greg takes you into the muddy mangrove creeks of Queensland, chasing mud crabs the professional way. After weeks of rain, the creeks finally settled — and the crabs were on the move. I’ve been working through the wet — it keeps things cool, and I know these creeks like the back of my hand. First pot pulled up two big bucks, one of them half-eaten. Mud crabs don’t muck around — proper cannibals, haha. I baited up with fish frames and skin, and that big one-clawed A-grade didn’t disappoint. More pots had full bucks too, and a few jennys which I released (as we do in Queensland). One poor buck had been attacked, still alive, so I let him go and hoped he’d pull through.
