Before the beginning of the year 2023, my cousin brother called me up and said that he wants to make a resolution to focus on his health and walk regularly every day starting from the first day of the year, and reach the 10,000 steps milestone by the end of June, 2023. He wanted to implement the 'Aggregation of Marginal Gains' principle, and improve 1% every day. (Just for sake of knowledge, the 'Aggregation of Marginal Gains' simply states that if you decide to improve on a particular skill by as little as 1% every single day, you would be better than at least 90% of other people who have that skill.) But he couldn't figure out where to start, how many steps he should start with to reach that target! That is where he asked me to help him. He knows that I know Excel and can find that number for him :) In the video, you will see how the Goal Seek feature of Excel, which is a very simple yet very useful 'What-if Analysis' tool, is put to work to find the answer. As the name suggests, Goal Seek helps us to find or Seek the input that should be used to reach the desired Goal, or in other words, when the Goal or result is known. Link to Article: This is a very simple scenario. Goal seek can be used to figure out the percentage value that should be set to achieve the specified sales target, or say, number of students in a college to achieve the desired revenue, and in many other cases. Though, it may not be able to find the solution always. We hope you found this video very useful and interesting !! For more such videos, please subscribe to our channel.
