This successful entrepreneur spends his days on his construction sites and neglects his wife, Laura (Andie MacDowell) and their two children. An unexpected meeting gives him hope: Professor Owen Leeds (Harris Yulin), a geneticist, suggests that he simply split the bill, purely and simply, to lighten his burden. Thus was born Doug 2, more virile and energetic than his model. Doug sends him to work on construction sites and devotes himself to his home. Eventually, he gets bored and gives birth to Doug 3, who is supposed to do the housework. Caught up in a vigorous identity crisis, Doug has some difficulty organizing the coordination of his clones.
