The Mountain Cedar (which is actually a Cypress) is one of only three conifer species native to Zimbabwe. Famed for its beautifully-fragranced and durable timber, these trees were so popular amongst early colonial settlers for their timber that few big examples remain standing. In this episode, Gus (the African Plant Hunter) shares a few tales from this species, as well as its close cousin the Mulanje Cedar (Widdringtonia whytei).
