As the chief mechanic for this circus, my job is to make sure the extractors don’t choke on the local grit. The mission profile is simple: we land, we build a mining colony, and we try not to let the planet eat our hardware. It sounds straightforward on paper, but paper doesn't have to deal with high-velocity mud and atmospheric corrosion. Right now, the mood is surprisingly chill. I’ve got the terminal humming, my bunk is actually made, and the sound of the rain hitting the hull is the best white noise money can't buy. I’m currently ignoring the "Maintenance Required" alerts on my screen to focus on more important things—like finishing this coffee. The rest of the crew is busy scouting the perimeter, but I know as soon as the first drill hits the dirt, they’ll be screaming for a mechanic. Until that inevitable chaos begins, I’m just going to lean back, enjoy the neon glow, and listen to the rain. Surmounting a hostile environment is 20% engineering and 80% staying dry as long as humanly possible. Time to get to work.
