Buddhanusati | Recollection of the Virtues of the Buddha

Buddhanusati | Recollection of the Virtues of the Buddha. Iti’pi so Bhagavā: (1) Arahaṃ, (2) Sammāsambuddho, (3) Vijjā Caraṇa Sampanno, (4) Sugato, (5) Lokavidū, (6) Anuttaro Purisadammasārathi, (7) Satthā Deva Manussānaṃ, (8) Buddho, (9) Bhagavā. Practice instructions (1) Mentally recite along with the chanting. (2) Gradually drop some of the virtues that are not immediately clear to your mind. Focus on one or two virtues that inspire you, ignoring the rest of the virtues as chanting continues. (3) When the chanting stops, focus on one virtue that inspires you the most to contemplate. For e.g., Sugato, you should recollect the definition of it with the mental recitation of ‘Sugato... Sugato....Sugato...’ (Pace it like how we practise Metta). (4) As concentration develops, the mind will stay with the virtue of the Buddha rather than with the words. Gradually lengthen the time between repetition (e.g). Sugato.............Sugato............; adjusting your pacing. Let the mind settle on that chosen virtue. Joy will arise as concentration develops further. When you notice the hindrances are absent, switch over to Wisdom Meditation or, continue with Wisdom Meditation practise when the bell sounds at the end of the 10:23 minute. 10:23 Silence *** Buddhanusati brings out and also, develops faith (in Dana, Sila, Samadhi and Panna; in short wholesomeness). It inspires practice. It energises the mind with joy, overcomes boredom, uplifts the mind and gives us the extra mileage especially when the going is rough. It overcomes hindrances and tranquillises the mind. _______________________ With metta, https://www.wisdom-meditation.org/ Chanting by Bhante Indarathana    / santussako   Thank you Bhante for your kind permission to use this chanting.
