Hot, Dry, Desert in Canada: Our Weekend Road Trip, with Prices and Things to Do

We're going on a road trip to Canada's only desert. These are the things we did and the prices we saw on our weekend getaway. I used to think that Canada's only desert was located in the southern part of the Okanagan valley in British Columbia. But I was wrong. The only place in Canada that fits the definition of a desert is the tiny village of Ashcroft, British Columbia, located about a 4 hour drive from Vancouver, BC. Ashcroft, BC was hot and dry. During our time in the village we ate at Hungry Herbie's Drive-In restaurant and the famous Desert Hills Taco Stand, hiked up the Ashcroft Ascent, dug for fossils at McAbee Fossil Beds, and visited the weekend markets.
