Ott DeFoe walks through his impressive win on the Potomac River during the Bass Pro Tour. From the very first cast, Ott leaned on a strong practice and made smart decisions based on the changing tides, boat pressure, and weather conditions. He started the event strong with a compact jig around wood cover and used the tide to his advantage, catching key fish in multiple areas early on. As the conditions shifted, Ott adapted by switching techniques and moving to cleaner water. On Championship Day, everything came together. With his key creek all to himself for the first time, he pushed farther back than ever before and leaned on the Bass Pro Stik-O Worm to pick apart shallow cover. That bait, paired with the Johnny Morris Carbonlite setup and VMC Neko Hook, helped him seal the deal. It had been a while since Ott last stood on top at a Bass Pro Tour event, and this win on the historic Potomac River was a meaningful one. He’s headed back to East Tennessee with another trophy and a week full of confidence, momentum, and some valuable lessons from tidal water.
