Cocoon marks 20 years of supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence

Two decades after opening as an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence, the Cocoon in Bowling Green has grown into a vital community resource, offering shelter, outreach, and support services to hundreds of survivors each year. What began 20 years ago as a small shelter opened its doors with a single mission — to offer immediate help to survivors of domestic violence. On the very first day, the Cocoon welcomed its first resident. Since then, the organization has expanded both in size and in its scope of services. “We've continued to create new programs and new opportunities for survivors as we've really listened to the voices of survivors who have said, 'This is a barrier for me.
