Here we attempt to use a PRC-138 with an RF-5833H. The PRC-138 (RF-5200) is meant to be used with the RF-5033PA amp, not the 5833H which was intended to be used with the PRC-150 (RF-5800). The two amps (5033 and 5833) are identical both in function and electronics, all modules and components are the same! However, there must be a difference in firmware and how the amp reports the model number to the RT (transceiver). The manual clearly states that all functions and diagrams are identical between the 5033 and 5833, however it also clearly states that if you use the PRC-138 with the 5833 amp or you use the PRC-150 with the 5033 amp (mismatch) that you will see a BIT error. I suspect that the amp sends a model number to the RT and if the response does not match the expected result, the error is thrown.
