In this video, I will show you a proven field method to erect a storage tank using chain blocks instead of hydraulic jacks. This method has been successfully used for small and medium size storage tanks and provides almost the same advantages as the conventional jacking system — but at a much lower cost. This technique is especially useful for projects where hydraulic jacks are not available or are too expensive, and where safe manual lifting methods are required. The procedure explained in this video is based on practical site experience and follows the general erection principles of API 650 and API 620 standards for welded steel storage tanks. 🔧 What you will learn in this video: Foundation center marking and coordinate setting (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°) Annular plate installation and weld shrinkage allowance Bottom plate laying and sump installation Erection stool fixing and first shell alignment Roof structure installation before shell lifting Chain block lifting system design and capacity calculation Hook and moon plate installation method Step-by-step shell lifting and shifting Final lowering and shell-to-annular plate welding This method is ideal for: ✔ Site engineers ✔ Fabrication supervisors ✔ Tank erection contractors ✔ Mechanical & piping students If you are working on API 650 or API 620 tank projects, this video will help you understand a safe and economical alternative erection method.
