Time to wrap up the Emblems with the Mini Games. Some I enjoyed (Sand Hill and the racing) Some I didn't so much (Sky Chase 1 & 2). The rest were OK. Sky Chase Act 1 (0:05) Getting combos through reasonably big chain is the killer 8,000 points shouldn't be too hard for this. The side of the ship seemed to be the turning point for me, as I ended up with 610 points more than I needed. Sky Chase Act 2 (3:02) There's a lot more happening here. Gold planes in a combo are the most lucrative point source, but don't underestimate how much the mines and the launchers add up on the sides of the ship (especially underneath). I wasn't sure this was going to be enough to get 20,000 but I was pleased to see 21,795 at the end. Sand Hill (6:50) This is a fun one to learn, either Sonic or Tails can do this. 10,000 points is what you need, which is probably a chain of around 30 or so with a smaller chain in as well. Consecutive gates is what you need in a reasonably quick time. The moving pillars and obstacles are a distraction more than anything. I somehow managed to get a recording of chaining the whole level. Twinkle Circuit (8:00) I thought I would try this as Amy for the first Emblem. To get both you just have to set a time that beats the current best (you would have to try to not beat it) and then beat that score. So it made sense to me to try out another character first. I always just went with Sonic and played to slow down right at the end the first time deliberately then just played well to beat it a second. I actually thought I would have to play as Sonic twice to get the second Emblem (hence the slowdown on the last lap) because the time didn't save, but it turns out once was enough. The times just save for individual characters. I assume Sonic is the fastest at these races? Makes sense to play as him considering a lot of the theme is a remix of his own. Hedgehog Hammer (14:18) The Emblem requirements are kind of confusing. Guides online say to set a high score here, and then beat it. You just have to get A SCORE through the mini game and then beat THAT score. My High Score was set whilst getting the Long Hammer, and I didn't beat it even on the second attempt for these Emblems. So your reward for getting all the Emblems, as well as all the Game Gear games (I wish they were Master System where possible for better resolution) is Metal Sonic. He plays identically to Sonic and has Action Stages with "Emblems" - but they don't count towards this total, just an icon. They're needed for achievements/trophies in modern ports so I'll do all his Action Stages in one long video next (and then the Missions). As a bit of a plug, whilst I mentioned the Game Gear games, I'll link to my playlist for the Master System Sonic games I played (all with all emeralds, of course) Sonic the Hedgehog - Master System • Sonic The Hedgehog - (Sega Master System) ...
