Wild Battle with a Sandbar Shark from the Beach

Surf fishing for big Sandbar Sharks (also known as Brown Sharks)! The bait was casted out from shore during an incoming tide. This wild fight lasted over an hour before I was able to land the shark. The shark was moving with the tide making it much more difficult to tire out. The long battle with the shark drew a fairly big crowd, which actually helped a bit because I was fishing alone and I needed someone to take pictures and help me land the shark. Once landed, the hook was removed and the shark swam away healthy. We encourage all viewers to practice catch and release methods when shark fishing and to use circle hooks.
