A Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada vai promover, pela primeira vez, o "PDL Carnaval & Malassadas", um evento dedicado a um dos mais emblemáticos doces tradicionais dos Açores. A iniciativa terá lugar nos dias 1 e 2 de março, na Praça Gonçalo Velho Cabral, reunindo as várias freguesias do concelho, num verdadeiro tributo à gastronomia e à cultura local. O festival pretende celebrar a malassada como parte integrante da identidade gastronómica micaelense, proporcionando aos visitantes a oportunidade de degustar diferentes versões desta iguaria, preparadas de forma artesanal pelas freguesias participantes. Durante dois dias, o coração da cidade será palco de um autêntico festim de sabores e tradições, enriquecido por um programa cultural diversificado. Neste sentido, no sábado, dia 1 de março, as barracas das malassadas abrirão pelas 12h00, oferecendo ao público a possibilidade de provar este doce confecionado pelas freguesias da Ajuda da Bretanha, Candelária, Fajã de Baixo, Fenais da Luz e São Vicente Ferreira, bem como pela AIPA. A animação ficará a cargo do Grupo Folclórico de São Miguel (14h00), seguido da atuação do Grupo Folclórico Passos de Bruma (15h30). Às 17h00, a AIPA promoverá um workshop de samba, na vertente de bellydance. No domingo, dia 2 de março, as bancas reabrem às 12h00, desta vez com a inclusão da freguesia da Covoada, a par das restantes anteriormente mencionadas. A animação terá início às 13h30, com a atuação do Grupo Folclórico Ilha Verde. Às 15h30, a AIPA volta a dinamizar a Praça Gonçalo Velho Cabral com mais um workshop de samba, desta fez dedicado ao forró e ao baião. Em ambos os dias, o encerramento das atividades está marcado para as 19h00. Com esta iniciativa, a Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada reforça o seu compromisso com a preservação e promoção das tradições gastronómicas locais, incentivando a interação entre diferentes públicos e o dinamismo no centro histórico. For the first time, Ponta Delgada Town Hall is promoting “PDL Carnaval & Malassadas”, an event dedicated to one of the most emblematic traditional sweets of the Azores. The initiative will take place on March 1 and 2, in Gonçalo Velho Cabral Square, bringing together the various parishes of the municipality, in a true tribute to local gastronomy and culture. The festival aims to celebrate malassada as an integral part of São Miguel's gastronomic identity, giving visitors the opportunity to taste different versions of this delicacy, prepared by hand by the participating parishes. For two days, the heart of the city will be the stage for an authentic feast of flavours and traditions, enriched by a varied cultural program. On Saturday, March 1, the malassadas stalls will open at 12 noon, offering the public the chance to taste this sweet made by the parishes of Ajuda da Bretanha, Candelária, Fajã de Baixo, Fenais da Luz and São Vicente Ferreira, as well as by AIPA. The entertainment will be provided by the São Miguel Folklore Group (14h00), followed by a performance by the Passos de Bruma Folklore Group (15h30). At 5pm, AIPA will hold a bellydance samba workshop. On Sunday, March 2, the stalls will reopen at 12 noon, this time with the inclusion of the parish of Covoada, alongside the others mentioned above. The entertainment will begin at 1.30pm with a performance by the Ilha Verde Folkloric Group. At 3.30pm, AIPA will once again energize Gonçalo Velho Cabral Square with another samba workshop, this time dedicated to forró and baião. On both days, the activities are scheduled to end at 19:00. With this initiative, Ponta Delgada Town Hall is reinforcing its commitment to preserving and promoting local gastronomic traditions, encouraging interaction between different audiences and dynamism in the historic center.
