She told that, there is a plan to induct more maritime patrol aircraft, anti-submarine warfare helicopters and long range MPA in the near future. Bangladesh Navy Issues Tender For Two Maritime Helicopters Bangladesh Navy (BN) has issued a tender to procure two new maritime helicopters that can be used for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface vessel warfare (ASuW), over-the-horizon targeting (OTHT). The navy also wants the helicopter to be used for operations such as maritime search and rescue (MSAR), medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and Special Forces missions. Moreover, the service is expected to be delivered in coming months. The BN has stipulated that the new helicopters should have provision for 7.62 mm and/or 12.7 mm machine guns (either podded or door-mounted); as well as the ability to carry depth charges, air-to-surface missiles, and torpedoes. The selected platforms are to be inducted in fiscal year 2017, IHS Jane’s 360 reported Tuesday. Further the BN is also requesting training and support. The BN noted that the helicopters should be able to operate in all weather conditions from all of its ships that are equipped with suitable landing decks similar in size or larger than that fitted to the frigate BNS Bangabandhu . The Navy also requires the helicopters should be new-build with proven European or North American avionics, and the type must be fielded by at least two other navies. It should also be twin-engined and fitted with wheels rather than skids.
