Telegraph correspondent Tom Phillips reports from Guangdong province's Boshe village, notorious for being a giant drug laboratory producing one-third of China's crystal meth On Sunday thousands of armed police arrested at least 182 people in a dramatic raid on Boshe, a seaside village which has supplied over a third of China's meth nationwide in the past three years. More than 20 per cent of households in Boshe were reported to be involved in drug production and trafficking rings, the Guangdong public security department has said. In China, methamphetamine is the second most popular drug after heroin. Among the arrests was Cai Dongjia, the local Communist Party village chief, whose once grand three-story villa now lies in disrepair following his capture. Mr Cai was one of 14 government officials taken into custody for suspected links to 18 drug rings. The villages is now been decked out in anti-drug propaganda posters which call on traffickers to turn themselves by February 15, said Telegraph correspondent Tom Phillips, who travelled to the village following the raid. He said despite the fact the heavy police presence seems to have withdrawn now from Boshe few people are willing to speak openly about Mr Cai's arrest or recent events there.
