The Legend of the Dutch Silk Cotton Tree of Mahaicony There is an ancient tree in Guyana that legend claims is so haunted, nobody will cut it down out of fear of becoming its next victim. The fear was so palpable that when it came time to build a major thoroughfare through the area, instead of cutting it down, the workmen diverted the road around the tree. Despite the efforts taken to appease it, deaths and severe injuries still regularly occur. In this episode, we went down to Perserverance, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara to separate the truth from the legend.
