The process for replacing the backup camera for other vehicles is similar. I bought an oem 2009 Toyota Prius used camera on eBay for $20. The part number is 86790-47020 (superseded by 86790-47021) The dealer wanted $791 for it and labor for installation is extra. You can replace the camera with an off the shelf unit but you will have to do some rewiring as the oem camera is 6 volt and most aftermarket cameras are 12 volt. Even though the original camera is not high resolution, it is at least matched with the Multifunction display to give decent light sensitivity and a viewable picture at night. The process is relatively simple and most people can do it. Remove the rear door cover panel by pulling it straight down (you can also check license plate lights to see if it needs replacement as this is a good time to do it). In order to access the camera, you have to remove 4 10mm nuts. A 10mm deep socket is preferred but not mandatory. The 10mm nut is obstructed by a long stud. I used my regular socket but only inserted the socket partially into the extension so it has enough room to grip the nut. After loosening the nuts, you can pull the plastic panel on the outside to reveal the camera. Try out the new camera first before you install it. The camera is fastened to the door with two 10mm screws. Remove old camera and install new one. Replace the plastic panel and reinstall the 4 nuts. Snap rear door cover panel back on and you are done. Click here to subscribe to this channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c...
