In this video I explain how to use ETC EOS Nomad with the Minecraft Theatrical Mod. Disclaimer: This mod does have some bugs and setting up ETC nomad to work with the mod does require some troubleshooting. I will not make a video specifically explaining how to solve whatever problem you might be having. If nomad doesn’t work for you try looking on the ETC forum, there are people on there that can help you solve your problem. If you continue to have issues try different DMX control software like MA lighting dot2, myDmx, showXpress, or any other free DMX control software. My Experiences In Theater Tech: I know this a new subject on my channel but this channel is mainly about my interests and hobbies and entertainment tech is one of my interests. I’ve been doing lighting and sound for theater productions since I was in the 6th grade or since I was about 12 years old. I got my start in it by doing a day camp that the company my mom works for was hosting. At that camp I learned how to run a basic lighting console like the ETC express, how to focus lights, and how to run and setup an analog sound console. When I was in 7th grade I did sound for my middle school’s theater productions. I took a year off then I got a summer job running a follow spot for the same company I did the camp with. When I got to high school I did theater tech all 4 years and learned a lot more in the process. I learned how to run an ETC EOS lighting console, I learned how to run a digital sound console (first a Soundcraft Si Expression 3, then a Yamaha QL5), I Learned how to use projectors to add scenery to shows, I learned how to use Qlab, I learned how to build sets, how to program and setup LED lights, how to do more advanced things with ETC EOS consoles, how to use Dante for digital audio on digital audio consoles, and a whole lot more. When I graduated high school in 2022 I was part of the international thespian society and had over 10 shows of experience under my belt. In my second semester of my freshman year of college I look a theater class for GE credit but I was told they needed technicians and when the professor learned that I was an experienced technician he had me work 2 shows in one semester. Why This Mod is Great: DMX can be very challenging to understand so being able to work with it in a game can a great way to practice with because there’s no consequences if you mess something up. Info about DMX and theater in the digital era: In the real world of entertainment tech we use DMX to send instructions to dimmer racks, moving lights and LED lights. DMX uses the data protocol RS485, which runs at 256 kilobytes per second, and unlike many things you can have the cable go into a fixture, then come out of a fixture and link together and the fixtures are able to tell what data they need to use and what data they need to ignore. The digital era has changed theater a lot. All systems in a theater can now be controlled from a single device with things like OSC, for example I can control lighting cues on a ETC EOS console, sound cues on Qlab on a Mac, and video cues on Qlab on a Mac from my phone.
