On Saturday at 6:00 a.m., at the Burning Man festival in the USA, a memorial ceremony began in honor of those murdered on October 7th at the Nova festival. Thousands gathered to pay their respects to loved ones who are no longer with us. At precisely 6:29 a.m., it was time for the music to begin. The music and dance are our way to honor life, to mourn, to feel the pain, to connect, and to love. It is our way to stand in solidarity with the hostages - it is our victory. The Nova tribe community made history at a psychedelic trance party with thousands of participants, an event not seen at Burning Man since the late ‘90s. On the dance floor, beneath the shade, there were DNA spirals of stairways to heaven. On each step, a name appeared - the name of someone murdered in the terrible tragedy that occurred at the Nova festival on October 7th. During the set, we looked around and noticed…that the other parties on the playa were fading out. We spoke about how unusual it was—there were no parties at this hour. We looked at the dance floor and, in our mind’s eye, we could see our murdered friends dancing with us. The people didn’t leave the dance floor, and the party continued into the sixth, then the seventh hour. Finally, the person responsible for the art track we were performing on came and told us we had to stop the music because that night they were burning the Man, and they needed to prepare the track. If they hadn’t asked us to stop, we would have played until sunset. The set began at 6:29 a.m. and ended around 1:30 p.m. We made history at Burning Man, creating an emotional event like no other. My deepest gratitude to everyone involved. When we returned to camp, we heard the devastating news about six hostages who were executed, five of whom were abducted from the Nova festival on October 7th. We are eagerly awaiting the swift return of our hostages still in captivity.
