After assisting throughout WWII, Food for Peace was made law by President Eisenhower in 1954. Today, more than three billion people in 150 countries have benefited directly from U.S. food aid. 60 Years explores Food for Peace’s unique history and recent strategies to tackle hunger amidst natural disasters in Haiti and the Philippines. It all begins in Jacintoport, Texas with a simple food bag. Though the design of the bag has remained, Food for Peace has begun to accompany the bag with new technologies to ensure food security and economic assistance in areas in need.
