Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) was established in 1982 by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah. He founded it to bring to life his vision of creating a nation of readers. The rich legacy of the SIBF has extended across four decades. It promotes both cultural and intellectual growth and exchange worldwide. The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has crossed $50 million in sales. It's a 12-day cultural and literary event where book lovers can browse through millions of books and buy them at great prices. The fair also connects authors and publishers from all over the globe and facilitates meetings to discuss current trends and potential opportunities to work together. In 2023 15 million books displayed 2,023 publishers 109 participating countries 1500 children’s activities SIBF has expanded its reach beyond the boundaries of Sharjah. The platform heartily welcomes every speaker and author to interact. The international presence of SIBF has allowed it to explore different literary traditions and perspectives. Today, SIBF is the third-largest book fair in the world. It is the most prestigious event in the Arab world and a hub for the most exciting literary events in the region. Every year, SIBF attracts the finest global talent in publishing and related industries to the Middle East. Sharjah International Book Fair has been awarded membership to various international organizations such as the Afro-Asian Publishers’ Association and GCC Book Committee and has been recognized by the International Publishers’ Association. In a dynamic environment that converges various voices in one place, SIBF offers various opportunities, captivating events, and activities such as author signings, noteworthy panel discussions, knowledgeable workshops, and exhibition sessions. SIBF has also initiated various paths for its readers.
