Nailing exposure Nikon SO today we are going to take a look at the different Nikon exposure modes and what I use as a 20 year Nikon pro for my wildlife images. As with most camera settings there is an argument to use all of them in varying situations and they all have there place, but I find that for me sticking with one setting and getting really comfortable with how it works I think makes the most sense. So we will have a quick walkthrough of the different settings, then explain where each can be useful and then we will have a detailed look at my preferred choice you can just fast foreword to the time here if that is what you are interested in. So Nikon have four different exposure modes, Matrix, Centre weighted, spot and highlight weighted . Matrix my preference takes a reading of the entire sensor, Centre weighted takes a reading of the centre of the sensor, spot takes a reading under the focal point and highlight weighted read the whole sensor and exposes for the brightest part. We will look at examples and demonstrate how each of these modes reads the scene.
