After defeating Clay, we can go down to the PWT area, which luckily includes the Relic Passage. Deep down in there, we can get into the Relic Castle, and we can catch Volcarona at Level 35 (as opposed to its evolution level at Level 59)! Improving Pokémon availability is one improvement I like about B2W2, considering that some Unova Pokémon arrive or evolve way too late to be useful for a playthrough of the originals, but B2W2 gives some of them a chance in these games, and Volcarona is one of these Pokémon, along with the Defiant Braviary on Route 4 (as well as Mandibuzz if you’re on Black 2.) That unfortunately comes at the cost of locking other Unova Pokémon and some other additional Pokémon from Gens 1-4 found in some areas from the originals to the post-game though. Anyway, catching Volcarona was a little tough, so I brought Net Balls for their higher catch rate on Bug-types and Water-types, and that made it easier. At least its current moves are weak, considering that Volcarona has the level-up movepool of a legendary, with a new move being learned every 10 levels.
