Relia Song (Wedding or Natka) "Relia" is about a woman whose husband had been taken by train and ship to a foreign land. The railway and ships are the 'sout' or mistress who has taken away her husband. The evil lure of money prompts her to promise to live off a seer of wheat for a year, and that when he returns she will never let him go again. The original folk song was popular in areas from which Indentured Girmitiya labor was imported to Fiji from in India. It was sung originally in Awadhi, the language in which it was probably sung in Fiji, for it was a popular folk song in the islands among Girmitiyas and their descendants.
