Over the past three decades, we have been unwavering in our commitment to supporting children and families facing the unimaginable challenge of a childhood cancer diagnosis. However, I must share a difficult truth with you today. Lennox is facing an unprecedented crisis that directly threatens our ability to supply crucial Care and Crisis grants to those in need. A multitude of factors, including the crushing cost-of-living crisis, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and other global challenges, have led to a severe decline in our donations and fundraising. As a result, we have had to make the agonising decision to temporarily pause our Care and Crisis grants. This decision means we are unable to support families in dire financial need, further compounding the already overwhelming challenges they face when their child is diagnosed with cancer. In those moments of despair, Lennox Children's Cancer Fund becomes a lifeline, providing vital financial support to families when they need it most & in the last 12 months, we have funded over £60,000 in Care and Crisis grants. Every year, around 4,200 children and young people are confronted with the harsh reality of a cancer diagnosis. Tragically, one in every five young lives is claimed by this relentless disease. These statistics underscore the urgency of our work and the critical role we play in supporting these families. Care and Crisis grants are a lifeline to our families, and it breaks our hearts to be in this position, but this is a stark reality and one that we cannot ignore.
