A couple of weeks ago, Sarah and I headed over to One Planet Adventure (Llandegla) for their demo day. We were hopeful to try out a few new bikes but took our own bikes just in case... I’m glad we did. The Demo was extremely busy and the route was short and hardly challenging so after one run we ditched it and went off on our own ride. We went to ride the red trail but Sarah wanted to try the B Line after watching a few YT clips. It was a beautiful day to ride. Fast, dry trails. So much fun. B Line starts half way round the red trail and is classed as a black jump line. It starts with boardwalk before going in to the jump section. If you control your speed and don’t want to get airborne it is possible just to “roll” over the jumps if you’re not too confident. My own ability in the air isn’t too good so after the first few hits I slowed down a bit and started hitting the knuckles. If I get a little ambitious I start to rotate too much on the nose and it scares the crap out of me. I worked it out a bit better on the second half (the part where I go past Sarah) but unfortunately I landed super heavy on the back and burst a tube. It was only a little snake bite but all the air leaked out within seconds and the tube had to be ditched (in the bag – not on the trail). We both did the B Line on a hard tail and while we were told “You must be mad” – it really isn’t that bad. It’s perfectly doable on a HT! After that flat I was trying to take it easy but in the end you’ll see I get a little competitive with a guy on a full sus. I just wanted to see if I could keep up really! Smashed some PBs. All in all, a good days riding!
